Passion on Purpose Action 2

"A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new". Albert Einstein

Sorry for the delay in posting but this week just got taken away on me. What a great week may I add!

I have to also note that back in 2008 my dear friend Pat mentioned “The Secret” to me we had a conversation and discussed the law of attraction. However I knew a lot about the law of attraction from my own experiences and I was not open to viewing “The Secret” I was still in my mode of analytical thinking where I did not even know that feeling/feelings are what activates the power of the law of attraction.  We also discussed a book called “The Power of Focus” by Jack Canfield she finished the book and I have tried 3 times and have not succeeded in finishing.

Thank you Pat for the first introduction to “The Secret”

So if you went and had some conversations with those that are doing the work you would love to do you should have some more information on your topic of interest

Conversation 1: “TATE”

I had a wonderful breakfast with a friend of mine “Tate” we talked a lot about passion and what his was. I was surprised but totally could see the fit when he said his passion was to be a Chef. Now he is not working in his passion and he is satisfied with his job. In his past he has done jobs where he was the head chef and found it rewarding. But the most interesting part about our conversation was he was thinking about buying a restaurant and has already reviewed some. He then went through the process of cost. How much is this going to cost in terms of maintenance, employees, new equipment, the gas & electric bill, etc. He found that this really did not interest him when it became a responsibility/job.

So in our discussion we found that because when he associated his passion with a means to make a living it looked like a job and job’s to him are a means to a financial end, not your passion.  More interesting what bubbled to the top of our conversation was the discussion of other ways to approach him being the chef and having others work for him. Another topic was maybe it is more pleasurable to do small catering efforts, or large efforts organized differently from what he was exposed to. In changing the way we look at something we can change the way it looks to us. One of my favorite quotes is by Mike Dooley and he says "Thoughts become Things.....choose the good ones!"

Conversation 2 “Noam”

Another great conversation I had this week was with a women that I will name Noam. Noam is struggling with her job, she dose hold a bachelor’s degree in her field, and however it is a very abusive situation. Her work is not in alignment with her passions. She is a case manager that is performing babysitting of disturbed adults. She is grappling with how to find satisfying work. So we went through a short process where I asked her the following questions:

Do you enjoy working with your hands? (Yes)
Then she mentioned she has a love for doing art.

Would you find joy in working at a gas station as a cashier? (No)

Would you find joy working in a kitchen with food? (Maybe)

Would you find joy in volunteering for an elderly home where you could visit & perform art projects with the elderly? (Yes)

So then is it that you find joy in helping others? (Yes), great!

Now if helping others is where you find joy and doing art projects is where you find joy. How about creating an art class on the road, where you go to nursing homes and you have classes/art projects. She was really excited, so I gave her a couple of locations where I believe there is a need for her joy to be performed. At this time because she is really new to finding her passion the suggestion to volunteer while keeping her present income fit well with her.

In answering the following questions:

"Do you love what you do?" Yes I do I get great joy out of having conversations with people.  I love to build relationships and to build strong foundations for others to work from. I have a natural ability to see where people or projects are stuck and get them moving forward.

"Does your work bring you satisfaction?" I get satisfaction out of seeing others succeed

"When you are working do you stay focused for hours and lose track of time?" I can stay focused for hours on the topic that I am working on for others where I do lose track of time.

"Can you see yourself doing any other work?" At this time I can see myself doing other work and that work would be to jump start entrepreneurial efforts of others to stimulate job growth here in Wisconsin.

"What legacy do you want to leave behind?" The legacy that I want to leave behind is one joy and fulfillment for others

"How will the world be a better place because you lived?" I will make the world a better place by navigating the path for others to live their passion.

"What do you care most about that is bigger than you? It can be a cause, a goal, a principle, a people, a truth-what do you want to give your life to?"  I care most about the success of others.

You are asking these questions to gather knowledge of Passion on Purpose. Success leaves clues so we will start our journey through others clues. I want to give my life to enhancing others’ lives through personal or professional consulting/coaching.

My friend Debbie,  today emailed me the following email and it really was inspiring so I am going to share this with you, enjoy!
A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: "I am blind, please help."  There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the  sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up.  A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy.

That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, "Were you the one who changed my  sign this morning?   What did you write?"

The man said, "I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way."
I wrote: "Today is a beautiful day but I cannot see it."

Both signs told people that the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind.
The second sign told people that they were so lucky that they were not blind.
Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?

Moral of the Story:  Be thankful for what you have.  Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and
positively. When life gives you a 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 reasons to smile.
Face your past without regret.
Handle your present with confidence.  Prepare for the future
without fear.  Keep the faith and drop the fear.

The most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling…
And even more beautiful, is knowing that you are the reason behind it!!!

You may touch someone's heart today and forever.
